Our vision is simple - To positively influence the behaviours of Northern Ireland children, teachers and parents by making learning about energy use simple and fun.

About Operation Energy

Operation Energy is an exciting new education programme from Airtricity aimed at inspiring teachers, children and parents to become advocates for energy use reduction, awareness and efficiency.

The programme is a free online resource, packed with activities, campaigns, games, videos and competitions to help schools on their Green Flag journey.

All the activities support learning across the Northern Ireland curriculum, with lessons plans for Foundation, KS1 and KS2.

We will also take the battle against energy waste into the home, and provide a variety of green activities that will help families to save money and the environment.

What’s on offer for schools of Northern Ireland? 

Operation Energy offers a variety of activities and lesson plans designed specifically to help schools through the Eco-Schools programme. Activities, campaigns and ideas will also helps schools to save energy, money and the environment.

• 10 different eco topics, with teaching resources that support Foundation, KS1 and KS2 learning.
• Over 60 activity ideas aimed at supporting sustainable learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
• An exciting interactive website, engaging online games and a gallery to upload pictures of your favourite Eco-Schools activities.
• More than 50 hours of green activities designed to help each school progress through the Eco-Schools programme.
• Three great competitions with loads of great prizes up for grabs throughout the school year.

Operation Energy and Eco-Schools

In June 2011, Eco-Schools announced that Airtricity would become its headline programme sponsor and energy topic sponsor for the next three years. Operation Energy is filled with compelling activities, campaigns and resources to help schools progress through the Eco-Schools process.

• All Operation Energy are activities are recognized by Eco-Schools and can be used towards Bronze, Silver and Green Flag awards.
• Activities have been designed to be run either by a class or by an Eco-School committee.
• Operation Energy has come up with loads of new Eco-Schools resources, including certificates and environmental audits.
• Look out for upcoming Eco-Schools events and Operation Energy competitions with the 2011/2012 year planner.
